What is a Professional Life Coach?

How will Life Coaching help?

Mainly, it will give you the tools you need to take charge of your life, increase your capacity for resilience, and well-being that will allow you to achieve your goals. How long does coaching take?

People aways want a "quick fix." However, lasting change takes time. How long depends on the complexity of your siutation. On average the process takes about three months. Don't expect change to occur and be long lasting after a few sessions. Coaching, like therapy takes time. It is a process. During our program, you will be very busy learning how and why you ended up where you are but more importantly, what to do about it. This also requires you "doing things differently" which we will need to monitor and process how the change process is working for you. We will prepare you for all contingencies so you know how to apply the strategies on your own and give them to others.

What happens in a Life Coaching Session?

Each session is tailored to the client and will vary based on individual needs. In the beginning, we will discuss what you are committed to accomplishing through our work together and we will begin to create a plan to achieve your goals. You will use a structured program created by Dr. Barclay's research on resilience and well-being called the Anatomy of a Resilient Mind: The High Capacity Model of Resilience and Well-being. After initial assessment, you will engage in guided discussions as well as homework assignments that will give you a concrete road map toward your success.

Do I really need a personal Coach, can't I just do it by myself?

Some people need more guidance than others. People who seek coaching are generally stuck and just don't know where to go. Most people don't even know what their potential is and have no clear vision for themselves. Others may have a vision but don't know the step to make it happen. Successful people surround themselves with others who know, people they can trust and count on to give them straight advice, even if it hurts. This is also what coaching is about. We call this Accountability.

How is Coaching different from Therapy?

While the life coaching we provide can be therapeutic, it is not therapy. Coaching is distinct from traditional therapy because it is not designed to address psychological issues. While emotional issues may arise, the primary focus of life coaching is to help you identify your goals, achieve them, and develop constructive habits and skills. We know that the past has a significant influence on who we are in the present and unless the present is changed, the future will remain the same. Because we're also licensed professionals in mental health, we can help you navigate these issues.

What is your cancellation policy?
