What is Resilience?
Resilience is the ability to bounce back, recover, and move on. The High Capacity Model of Resilience and Well-being (H-CAP) is a research based model to create states of resilience and overall well-being. Resilience provides a buffer against the stresses of life and is a key trait of all successful leaders. Resilience is creating a mindset where your thoughts and emotions are not controlled by circumstances. Training your mind is likened to training your body. As you train your body to gain strength and stamina, so too can you train your mind for resilience. H-CAP is such training.
What is H-CAP?
The traits of resilient people are Hope, Commitment, Accountability, and Passion. We all have the capability for resilience. However, as we experience life, it’s easy to set our eyes on circumstances that cause these traits to erode and weakens resilience. In other words, we just get beat down by life, get tired and give up. See the link, About H-CAP, and other associated video links for detailed information. Because the H-CAP traits are general, they can be broadly applied and used to build resilience in any setting, personal, business, emotional, and spiritual.
In everything you do, you need to Hope that it can be done. You also need to engage in certain Commitment strategies to get you there. Successful and resilient people are also Accountable to others in the seeking and obtaining their goals. Lastly, resilient and successful people have Passion for what they do. The H-CAP model of resilience can be used in clinical settings as well as non-clinical settings.
Research is ongoing with the use of the H-CAP model within military settings, general clinical practice, business, and education retention. The H-CAP model has simple and specific interventions that create these traits that you can create in yourself and in others. The skills will always stay the same; however, the circumstances in which you apply them may differ.
Sound simple? That’s because it is.
We’re the ones who make it complicated. How can H-CAP work for you?
